Hey guys! First post on Barefoot Cinderella! Pretty exciting, huh???!!!!

Soooo anyway, yesterday at school our teacher made a HUGE announcement!

The whole class was WILD. Paper airplanes were being thrown everywhere, chairs were being knocked over, and girls were gossiping on the beanbag chairs in the corner of the classroom. The boys were having their own "mini" football game inside and the cheerleaders were cheering loudly. It was so loud that I decided I would sit on the other side of the classroom and read my book (The Penderwicks--great book, I recommend it!)

Suddenly, everyone heard a door open and the clack of a teacher's high heels on the hard wood floors. Everyone instantly stopped talking and sprinted back to their desks, expecting Mrs. Cameron to start yelling at them.

But she smiled!

"Hellloooooo, class!" she said cheerfully.

"Um, good morning Mrs. Cameron..." we all said half-heartidly.

"I have some EXCITING news!" She blurted out. The way she said exciting was the way people say, you WIN! We are all really shocked at her cheery-ness.

"We are having..." she pulled out a small flyer, "A SCHOOL PLAY!"
A couple of drama-freaks started clapping like mad, and the others clapped and whispered to eachother.

"The play is...CINDERELLA!" Mrs. Cameron said, answering our mental questions.
The popular blonde-haired girl instantly jabbered on and on about how THEY would be the PERFECT part for Cinderella and dragged their boyfriends into trying out to be the prince. I just sat there quietly.

"I'm going to let you all have a break to chat with your friends while I get some coffee! Oh, and did I ever tell you I used to be in the theatre business? Oh, I was the leading roll as Annie!" She almost skipped out of the room. Suddenly, she put her head back in the doorway and said, "I'm the director and try-outs are next week! Grab a flyer, little angels!!"

OMG. The strictest teacher in our school called us "little angels..!" I mean, she must REALLY like acting!

"Hey Lanie," Matt said as he pulled me onto his lap. *kiss*

Kanani ran up to me and said, "LANIE! You would be PERFECT for the part of Cinderella! Try out! Try out! Try out!"

I sat there, thinking about it.

"She's right, Lanie," Matt and Mia said at the same time. "JINX!" they both yelled, then laughed.

"Well...okay...I'll try out." I said.

I think I am officially keeping Barefoot Cinderella (no more votes on what it should be) because i rly like it!! Stand In the Rain was one I liked too, but ive heard that a lot of ppl dont "get it" soo ya! and it was kind of growing old soo yep!

The Announcement

Hey guys!!

--YESTERDAY--

*RING RING RING!!!!!* The school bell rang rapidly. That's the first bell." I thought. One more bell until the announcements. I sat in my desk eagerly waiting.

*RING RING RING!!!!!* It rang a second time!!!

And before I knew it, the speakers started to crackle and the principal, Mrs. Grazik, starting coughing.

"Hellloooooo, Girl/Boy of the Year University!! Good morning! It is 8:10 a.m. so please stand for the pledge."

After reciting the pledge of alligance, we heard the music teacher announce some reminders for the spring councert. After that, Mrs Grazik scratchy voice was present again.

"Now, I know you are all eagerly waiting for the winner of the School Newspaper Reporter Contest!" Everyone cheered, and I saw Kanani sit up straighter out of the corner of my eye. I felt Matt slip his hand into mine.

"Without further ado, THE WINNER IS..." Kanani stood up, as if she already knew she was the winner.

"MISS LANIE CAITLYN HOLLAND!!!!!"

 Kanani, with her face burning red, sat back down. In turn I stood up and smiled as the class clapped for me. Matt gave me a big hug, and Chrissa and Mia both gave me thumps-up. As I was walking out the door everyone high-fived me. As I strutted out the door to get my newspaper-reporter ID confidently, I felt something. Something weird. Something like guilt. I turned around and walked back to Kanani. I could tell she was embarrassed and dissapointed.

Her face was buried in her arms, and I heard her weeping.

"Kanani?"
"WHAT?? Did you come back here to rub it in my FACE??"
"Actually no, Kanani, I'm sorry. I knew you wanted this so badly. You just need some practice in writing. I'm sorry I hurt you. I don't want to fight anymore. Let's just be friends."
I held my breath until she answered.
She smiled and said, "I'd like that."
"Me too."
"And I'm-" Kanani stopped midsentence, then continued." I'm s-sorry."
"That's okay, friend! I will talk to you after school okay??"
She nodded.

As I turned out I felt as though everything was PERFECT. Matt hugged me again and then I realized, it was.
